REVIEW: What Went Wrong With Kiss Daniel’s Performance At MBGN 2015

Last night we witnessed the announcement of this years Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria which was won by Miss Anambra. The show was filled with glamour and glits. There where high expectations from this years MBGN as it was been hosted by the people of Calabar, Cross River. There where musical performances from some few artistes but the climax leading to the final announcement of the winner of the competition was the performance from rave of the moment the Woju crooner Kiss Daniel.

Immediately the MC called Kiss Daniel on stage as the next performer the crowd jeered and you could see and feel the excitement from the audience. Everything was going smoothly and fine from his grand entrance to the stage. His costumes was cool and we where expecting a mind blowing performance from him but just immediately he started to perform his first song “Laye” he kind of lost us and got disconnected from the audience. His performance became sloppy and his energy waned.
His descend from the stage was meant to be a good way for him to connect with the audience but all went soared when he lost vigor to entertain the audience. He was supposed to enter into the crowd and pull out a lady and steer a dance with her, at least that was what I expected of him since his song was a love song meant for the opposite sex. He should had used that opportunity to do something creative but instead we saw dull performance from him.

Another thing that went wrong was his dancers. I kept asking myself what the hell was he thinking bringing those two girls on stage. Wasn’t he aware that he was supposed to perform at the show and decided to just pick up any girl he met on the street of Calabar. To be frank those girls totally flawed his whole performance. It just looked like a child play to me and why wasn’t their dance aligned with each other. Those girls dressing looked unprofessional and  the whole performance showed that he didn’t rehearse before coming on stage to perform.

Lastly Kiss Daniel performance was poor. He was just miming all through, I didn’t even hear his real voice all I could hear was just the recorded song playing from the loud speaker and someone just demonstrating and pantomiming to the song. Even if he couldn’t perform live with a live band he should have given us a bit of himself. People really where looking forward to hear him sing not just miming to a song we already know. He lost the crowd in just some few minutes he climbed the stage. They should have just played the song without him coming on stage to perform because there wasn’t much of a different. He was feeling himself smiling and feeling like a fine boy on stage.

Kiss Daniel should learn from his mistake so that when next he’s called on stage to perform we wont witness this same  tragedy. Kiss Daniel should try and learn from DbanjWizkidDavido and Lil Kesh. These artistes are very good performers and also good musicians. We all love his music but his stage performance is poor and lacking vigor.  This is just to encourage him and not to discourage him. I’m still a fan of Kiss Daniel.
